I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

We have a generous PTO allowance of 4-5 weeks, competitive salaries, and friendly coworkers. In many positions telecommuting is allowed. A pretty diverse work environment with men, and women of many ages, races and backgrounds.

Cons

Some of the corporate IT policies are very restrictive and the workstation software tends to be very outdated. I find there are limited opportunities for advancement within the company. Salary increases and bonuses are infrequent or non-existent depending upon what your pay grade is, how much your manager likes you, and who others in your department are.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to keep your talented staff it would be a good idea to make more opportunities for advancement for long time employees.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Staying in with the technology changes, opportunities to grow, training opportunities, wonderful people to work with, committed to communities.

    Cons

Reorganizational changes, departments tend to be "silo" oriented and the communication could be better. If an employee moves from one division to another, the relationships that have been developed are not always respected due to changes made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there are going to be reorganizational changes, help your top people who are being effected find something else within the organization prior to the cuts
