    Pros

The ability to telecommute is terrific. Technical support for telecommuters is excellent.

    Cons

Highly political old boys network. As a result, women seeking opportunities have become quite vicious vying for the few token opportunities available to them. The company's lack of vision, coupled with deep pockets from the "mothership," Unitedhealth Group, means that Optum chases every "shiny" new healthcare trend that comes along.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the layers of middle management. Beneath it you'll find some exceptional talent. Set a strong, strategic direction for the organization and stick with it. Practice the cultural values that are espoused; move out leadership that refuse to adhere to them.
