I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

This is the first job I ever had working for a large company. I loved everything about working for United, the people, the job itself, the hours, the pay and benefits, just an awesome place to work!

Cons

We recently found out from management that up to 50% of our department is being outsourced anytime from now to the next few months. I am heartbroken, I never loved going to work so much!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please reconsider outsourcing jobs! We need people in the USA working. There are fewer jobs being posted for the company, I never want to leave UHC!

Your typical Behemoth company! Not for the smart people, they want average workers.

    4. People are overworked.
    5. Company culture is horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Recognize and keep your talent.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working from home is the norm instead of the exception. UHG has really figured out how to do it the right way. Technology is cutting edge. Management is receptive to new ideas and getting away from the "old way" of doing IT and setting the curve instead of following it. This leads to some of the cons below, but those will improve in time. I am the most excited I have ever been about IT in a long, long time.

    Cons

Change is hard and painful. Lots of long hours and uncompensated overtime. UHG is a large company and moves at an iceberg pace like any other company of its size.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep pushing forward and evolving the culture to be fast, flexible and adaptive. There is a great opportunity to be a market leader in healthcare technology and UHG (Optum) is headed in the right direction.
