I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good pay, benefits and 401K. Work-life balance OK. Office culture, crazy. This was a medical clinic purchased by United Health Group, so it started this crazy, but United Health group has not fixed it.

Cons

Abusive management personnel having complaints against them are rapidly promoted up the ladder. it's amazing that such unpopular management personnel can be promoted so quickly. It's as if abusive, incompetent, unpopular management are chosen for success in the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get new competent management that have good personnel skills with at least 50% of those underneath them.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group

    Pros

Reliable hours, clear understanding of whats expected of you

    Cons

Job growth and stability of position questionable as more company cutbacks liquidate departments and positions. No communication from corporate to explain these cut backs. Health benefits are lacking ( for an insurance company), verty linear options for advancement.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Exciting industry, and global reach. I really like the individuals I work with. It could be that Midwest charm, since they are based in Minneapolis.

    Cons

Despite claiming to have a goal of promoting from within, they use many contractors, so in reality there are very little advancement opportunities (unless you leave the company to become a contractor).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop using contractors, you should truly try harder to promote from within.
