I have been working at UnitedHealth Group

Pros

Access to some of the best health information in the world. I work with some very smart people and have a great ability to learn through resources in my organization.

Cons

Not a great place for entry level. Sink or swim culture. Poor work life balance. Sometimes senior management does not provide adequate guidance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need better programs in place to train junior employees. Offices are independent of each other and different sometimes conflicting cultures emerge throughout the organization.

    Pros

    - Great PTO (no sick time, that means you can take more PTO for vacation. If < 5 yrs = 23 days, if more = 28 days.
    - Modern and clean office.
    - Big company, fortune 100.
    - 401K match up to 3.5% if you put 6% max.
    - ESPP, 15% discounted

    Cons

    - As part of United Health Care, don't expect you'll get top of the line health insurance. HSA with outrageous deductible is a common option there.
    - Company is a little top heavy. Change of management occurs quite often.
    - Career growth is rather limited. Don't expect to jump 2 grade levels easily even if you qualify for a new job. They are notorious to hire outsiders than giving insiders the opportunity to move for another internal job.
    - Happen to some people, when they found a better job offer outside the company, mgmt tried to retain you by luring you a little more money... but by that time it's too late already. They should have treated you better if you're a performer. But as many have said, most of the times if you do good work you're just an average person with so-so raise and bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open the ranks to those that are over 40 for the senior leadership positions instead of grooming college age employees straight out of school. Your drving the experience away,
