Current Employee - Analyst  in  Houston, TX
Current Employee - Analyst in Houston, TX

Pros

Analyst Salary is very competitive. People are nice to work with. Company feeds employees in times of high stress.

Cons

Very top heavy, including contracted project managers. They over work you into the late hours and have meetings past midnight during projects. "wearing many hats" is a literal statement at this company. There's not much management feedback given to employees. Management has tendencies to thwart responsibility and not take ownership of information. Management is very opportunistic when it comes to relinquishing responsibility, losing sight of common sense. Lots of turnover in Operations-but hardly much in the IT organization. Systems are very fragmented and not well thought out, having to resort to a lot of band aids to fix problems. There's not oversight into business unit practices. Compliance department lacks clarity surrounding guidance. Feeding employees high fat/high cholesterol food during times of stress.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand each others' processes; build incentive programs for all employees; be sensitive to the type of employees you need, relative to pay grade and the job at hand. Listen to Operations as a 'customer' and not as a 'supplier'.

Okay to work for but I would not want to make a career out of it.

    Pros

People on staff are nice to work with. Team effort always.

    Cons

Twice as much work expected for half the amount of personnel. Salary is definitely not competitive and not based on experience. Pay raises are minimum at best. Expect to work overtime. Takes a long time for a promotion unless you have an in with upper management. Continuous layoffs.

Middle management does appreciate your support but has little to say in regards to the above.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to feel stability in work force. Support your staff and compensate them fairly.
