Pros

The company has had continued growth in this industry during my tenure. The average environment is good with their normal snags you find anywhere. The owners care about the company and realize, and I mean truly realize, the major component to their success is the employees getting the job done. Benefits package is awesome if you take full advantage. The owners and management agree that an employee informed about the company's standing and direction is an employee with a vested interest. This is serves in the matches mandatory company meeting.

Cons

The cons were not really that different from other jobs such as the drama between departments or shifts or employees. The big con that led to my departure was the time frame for advancement in the company, which I believe is due to the size of the company.

Advice to Management

Don't overlook ideas not filtered up through lifers. Have a possible route to suggest straight to the top.

    Pros

-Excellent work-life balance -Great benefits (Good health program, multiple yearly cash bonuses, on-site gym, flexible hours) -Strong company values, with a focus on meeting diverse customer needs and ensuring product reliability -Friendly and approachable management and ownership -A focus on growth and technological advancement, with large investments in R&D and cutting edge hardware

    Cons

-Very little job training -Frequently shifting goals and expectations due to the smallish company size and varied customer requests -Contractors do not get access to the cash bonuses, health program access, or many of the various other amenities offered by the company to direct hires, and you are more likely to be kept on as a contractor for long periods of time than you are to be hired directly. Despite this, you will still be expected to attend events and ceremonies where all of your direct hire colleagues are given these rewards. This can be demoralizing, especially after you've worked there for a long time.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to offer full time positions to contractors...it might be expensive, but keeping them temporary for years without pay raises or bonuses will gradually affect the quality of their output. At the very least, allow them to skip various events where their colleagues are rewarded, as this can turn the rewards intended to create cohesion among employees into a source of division instead.

    Pros

Laid back work place. No real pressure.

    Cons

Buddy system. Lack of respect for the talented professional.

    Advice to Management

Let go of the buddy system and this will be the greatest place work.
