I worked at Universal Music Group as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Lots of pros. First the environment - very friendly and lovely people.
Lots of opportunities offered to the employees to express themselves, attend concerts and gigs, meeting artists and management.

Cons

The only con I can think of is the low compensation package. Obviously working in the music industry is a well rewarding experience however, like most of the companies in the music industry, the wages are low due to the tough times the industry is going through right now.

    Pros

Brilliant staff with a can do attitude.
    Market leader.
    Fun place to work.

    Cons

Lack of strategy communicated from main board.
Promotion difficult as there is no staff investment in both escalation planning & training and constant restructuring.
Suffering from declining revenues with a short term cost cutting/minimal resource mentality with no medium term investment in transformation.
    High pressure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Has historically based the driver for success on internal competition. This worked in a stable business environment but in a constantly changing & fragmenting business combining strategy & collaboration are necessary.
Should recognise the external environment and factor this into realistic targets that are achievable and motivational.
