I have been working at Universal Protection Service

    Pros

Pay is fairly competitive for an entry level position. There are some basic health benefits offered, also not bad for an entry level position in security.

    Cons

Orientation is completely unpaid and you are actually not offered a position until the end of the day. Orientation lasted approximately 9 hours for me, including a half hour lunch. None of my training prior to orientation was relevant and I basically had to complete additional training per company policy. In California current guards must complete 40 hours of training and I paid to have my 40 hours completed through a state approved school, UPS didn't find this training relevant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would advise management to create an orientation that is cost effective but actually pays employees. If you want the job you are required to attend orientation to completion. Also consider training that is completed prior to being hired, especially if your's is a watered down version.

I worked at Universal Protection Service

    Pros

Got paid on time. The area I worked in had a decent amount of post to work at. If you can get a good paying post and keep it you'll be set for a while.

    Cons

Pay depends on your post. Little chance at advancement. Working country clubs can be risky and you can be removed at anytime if the client does not like you.
