I have been working at Universal Service Administrative Company full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great work/life balance with a lot of very friendly and motivated staff. The CEO/CIO has done a tremendous amount of work to ensure employee satisfaction while getting a lot of challanging work completed. It is a place I like to come to every day.

Cons

Working with the government can be a challange, but it is DC so it is expected. Salaries would be higher if the company was actually private.

    Pros

USAC offers attractive benefits and a stimulating work environment including co-workers with diverse backgrounds. In addition to the benefits package and great people, our Washington, DC, office is in the heart of our nation's capital, with many attractions and historic sites.

USAC's robust offering of benefits include:

    401(k) Plan
    Annual Leave
    Dental Insurance
    Educational Reimbursement Program
    Employee Assistance Program
    Flexible Spending Account Program
    Life Insurance/AD&D
    Medical Insurance
    Paid Holidays (federal)
    Prescription Benefits Program
    Public Transportation/Parking Program
    Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
    Sick Leave
    Training Reimbursement Program
    Vision Insurance

    Cons

As a federally regulated organization, USAC does not participate in politics or lobbying, which may be a downfall for some living in Washington, DC.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't fear rapid change, this holds back creativity and curtails useful advances in processes and procedures.

Nothing gets done - more politics goes on there than Govt. offices !!!

I worked at Universal Service Administrative Company

    Pros

Benefits are good....but low pay sort of compensates that...so not sure if this really would fall under "pros"!!!

    Cons

Very bad office politics, that place is good for people who are close to their retirement ...and don't want to learn too many new technologies etc. As the other individual said earlier especially for IT people that place wont have anything new to learn...so think twice before you go! Benefit doesn't really help you much when you compare their Pay
USAC low pay + good benefit <less then< higher pay + regular benefit ....in any other organization!!
