I worked at University Research Co.

Pros

An OK place to work for young, entry-level professionals or executive level staff nearing retirement. Company is growing and therefor experiencing a lot of churn. Well educated staff with Masters (MPH) or working towards one, and many of them from reputable schools (Johns Hopkins, etc.). Company does want to push/improve the use of technology to communicate with their International offices. Decent benefits and holidays.

Cons

The company needs a better recognition system. Many people work hard and sometimes long hours and do not get the appreciation they deserve. Although, there are groups who do a better job than others. Lots of turnover due to growth and although well-educated, computer literacy/skills are poor to average at best.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Design a company-wide recognition system that can be used within groups/departments or company wide (ecards, etc., similar to a well known company I currently work for). Better starting salaries and raises.

    Pros

Worthwhile projects in the international health field and a chance to travel. Decent benefits. Weekly all staff meetings were a good way to know what others were doing. A lot of activities and support for entry-level workers.

    Cons

There was a lot of staff turnover, especially among middle level managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider investing in improved office space and opportunities for mid-level managers.
