Pros

The U of A fulfills their mission "Uplifting the Whole People" by creating a dynamic and supportive work place. There are a number of benefits to working on campus: diverse and positive work environment, opportunities to get involved, access to a lot of great facilities, skills development and courses, ongoing development and growth and many more benefits.

Cons

There is a combination of localized organization and central university management which creates a unique experience in every department but are all held together under the general guidelines. As with any large organizations, there are a number of rules and regulations to learn and follow. Although, the new employee orientation to the university is excellent, specific job training and mentoring is not as well developed as in the private sector.

Advice to Management

Better centralization of information and multiple methods of disseminating information so that employees do not need to search as much especially before they learn the U of A jargon.
