I have been working at University of Arkansas part-time

    Pros

Great environment. My department was very laid back which made for an enjoyable environment that made work a lot more enjoyable

Being able to work with younger adults was also a plus because it allowed employees to interact and work together better without a generation/age gap that can sometimes make work more difficult or frustrating

    Cons

Although working with young adults is a pro it can also be a con when something work related comes up that is very important and time sensitive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use better time management skills. Mine aren't the best by any means but, as a higher up in the department, planning and organization should not be the largest negative of operations

I have been working at University of Arkansas

    Pros

I'll start off by stating that I grew up in Fayetteville so this town and university are like home to me. With that said, this is a wonderful place to work. Before coming back to Arkansas I was working for Brown University. I was completely unimpressed with that institution. Once you get past the wow factor of working at an "Ivy" there were major flaws with the university. Arkansas is the complete opposite. You are treated very well here. The pay is what you expect from a public institution so if you're fine with that then you'll enjoy it here. Fayetteville is well below the national average for cost of living and is a very safe town with a lot to do. Full-time employees receive a 90% tuition break which allows you to go to school for virtually nothing. You are even allowed to take up to three hours of classes during the day and not required to make that time up. The retirement and health benefits are spectacular here. In my department I can say without a doubt that people are treated with respect which I couldn't say about Brown. The first Friday of every month we have a lunch party and recognize the employee of the month. I cannot say enough about how happy I am here. It truly is a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

I suppose the dental allowance insurance could be higher. After half a year here that is only complaint. That says something about this place that I literally cannot find a con from working here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. Our senior leadership in our department is wonderful. Keep up the great work.
