I worked at University of British Columbia full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

To be a staff of the University of British Columbia is very interesting and very challenging and you
will be pround to tell your friends that you are working in the second largest university of Canada.

    Cons

You cannot work overtime without pay because it is under the CUPE 2950 and very strict to impose
and you will be in trouble if you insist to work beyond your time unless if it is overtime with pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

During job interviews, if someone was not too good during the interview, he/she might be a very
good employee if you give him/her a chance.

    Pros

Good Pension and benefits, Lots of Vacation Time, Good Work/ Life Balance, Beautiful Campus & location within Vancouver. Great public transit access.

    Cons

"Old School" Management style, Not progressive, Bureaucratic with little productivity. My department had a very unethical leadership team and did not seem to align with the vision/ mission of the university.
