I have been working at University of California Berkeley part-time for more than 3 years

Pros

-Constant interaction with new students and hall staff
-A lot of time to get other work done while on the job
-Great opportunity to befriend RA's and other staff if interested in becoming a part of other residential programs

Cons

-Late shift is 10-2am. Not a problem for me but some people can't stay up past midnight

I worked at University of California Berkeley full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Collegial atmosphere, plenty of user groups and support communities. Changes in organizational IT services and management may mean better, clearer paths for learning and advancement.

    Cons

State budget means infrequent increases, failure of salaries to keep up with inflation and the marketplace. Current reorganization of IT under the Operational Excellence initiative can mean some lack of clarity and instability until they gain traction.
