I worked at University of California Berkeley full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great facilities and access to additional resources at nearby LBL. A great seminar series and lots of news ideas.

    Cons

Everything starts ten minutes late on "Berkeley time". Although all of the graduate students are bright and capable, not all are highly motivated. The level of intensity is lower than at places like Caltech.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Professors here tend to become more administrators and become distanced from the research. Stay in the trenches and take a personal stake in the success of projects!
