I have been working at University of Cambridge full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Great resources (buildings, libraries, facilities, etc), really smart people, chance to make high-powered connections, lots of arts and cultural stuff going on. Good pension, maternity, etc benefits.

Cons

Low salaries compared to industry, nonexistent opportunities for promotion or even permanent post as RA, small town, can be isolating if not student or fellow.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide career path for postdocs to advance. Make it easier for postdocs to become members of colleges.
