I worked at University of Central Florida full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

The opportunity to work at a large university that is growing; the opportunity to work with some good folks; opportunities to be involved in a lot of things if able or permitted.

Cons

Favoritism, unprofessional (discussing employee matters with others who are not the employee or a supervisor, and unethical modeling of behavior by leadership (including gossip about personal lives, health, and wellness of employees). Good old boy/girl network which prohibits advancement opportunities. Punished for speaking up for oneself.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training in professional ethics required for all staff, including leadership.

I worked at University of Central Florida full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to live. Good people to work with. A growing, developing organization with investments into some innovative practices.

    Cons

Little or zero room for advancement. No salary increases due to State of Florida limitations. Sometimes, leadership avoids thinking out-of-the-box. Sometimes leadership over reacts or reacts negatively or strangely to innovative thinking.

I have been working at University of Central Florida full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. The management in my department is awesome. They love to mentor their staff. There is room for growth. I started as an Office Manager and eventually worked up to a higher level position

    Cons

Although I now make a good salary -- the entry level and mid-level USPS positions can be somewhat low in pay. However, there are good benefits & opportunities to advance.
