University of Chicago Employee Review

Current Employee – been working at University of Chicago full-time for more than 3 years

Pros – (a) Access to awesome institutions, perks, libraries, people, faculty, buildings, events, etc.!
(b) Great community of nerdy/geeky people seeking to create and add to knowledge.
(c) See item (a).

Cons – (a) Very stratified, hierarchical work structure that makes it difficult to move up the ladder.
(b) Mounds upon mounds of red tape to get anything accomplished.
(c) Very little openness to change (though new ideas are encouraged, which can be frustrating).

Advice to Senior Management – Hire outside the box. Think more about the contemporary world in which we live. Stop relying on old tricks to get the job done.
