I have been working at University of Illinois at Chicago full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Decent package and benefits
Good work/life balance
Fairly dynamic team (my department)
A lot of learning opportunities from very experienced senior executive managers
Great location - easily accessible with public transportation

Cons

Politics and bureaucracy are very sticky business in an organization as large as UIC
Financial issue resulted in very slow/no pay increase and a lot of uncertainty with the retirement plan.

    Cool interesting colleagues--great interest in research good location and security--good goals students are great

    Cons

    Faces financial struggles and way too much bureaucracy--too little money to fund grad students buildings are old salary increases slow but starting salaries reasonable;

    Cut red tape and be on employees side
