free food, lots of extra shift

Cons

mean bosses, can't work more than 30 hours as a student

    I have been working at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    -compensation in Crop Sciences was
    -assistantship was voluntary, so I didn't have to rely on it, which arguably raises the quality of teaching
    -opportunity to directly teach students, not just grade
    -being an international student did not slow things down (working actually had the benefit of providing me with a SSN, non-resident tax treaty benefits)

    Cons

    -It's a teaching assistantship. Don't expect to get that much.
    -grading sucks

    I have been working at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

    You have the opportunity to work on cutting edge research and collaborate with very talented and passionate people. Easy access to current research and be able to hear ongoing research through seminars and invited speakers. Have more freedom to choose the direction of research.

    Cons

    Location not as good as some of the other big cities.
