I worked at University of Iowa full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Excellent benefits, good pay, MOST of the students are a joy to work with

Cons

You only get paid once a month, extremely hard to get a job here, and very high expectations during probationary period. Some standards are almost impossible to meet.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont be so hard on the new employees. Sometimes your standards are ridiculous and almost impossible to meet.

    *Impatient/rude customers
*Poor dress code (women wear jeggings) <--- How are they professional?

*Poor training program (1 day training per station)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    *Clearly communicate employee expectations
*Create weekly training programs (per station)

I have been working at University of Iowa full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, decent salary, exciting work environment.

    Cons

Low level support personnel have punitive workloads that border on abusive. The current governor has declared war on the union and he is seeking to freeze our pay raises and slash our benefits packages, as well as severely restricting our rights to collective bargaining. Employees who leave aren't being replaced, only adding to the burden on support staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to your mission of providing quality patient care instead of being driven by profit.
