Never met anyone who didn't love the university (even if not everything about their job)

Former Intern - Anonymous Intern

I worked at University of Iowa as an intern

Pros

Strong sense of connection to the university as a whole (from staff and just about everyone in town)
Iowa City is a surprisingly great place to be (art, food, biking trails)
Research facilities are unbelievable

Cons

It's hard for non-tenured academics, especially research scientists -- pressure to get grants, etc
A few of the old research buildings can't hold a candle to the new ones

I worked at University of Iowa part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, everyone is nice, almost too nice at times. There is always food around for your typical college student.

    Cons

If you enjoy cubicles, work gossip than you'll love this job. Personally I can't stand that type of work environment. Also good luck trying to do anything creative.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
