I have been working at University of Maryland full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

UMD offers a great benefits package. After two years of full time employment, staff and faculty are eligible for tuition remission for themselves, children or their spouse. Offices are closed for winter break the week after Christmas (some smaller holidays are banked to allow for this).

    Cons

All staff and faculty pay for parking, which is deducted from their paychecks. Budget cuts have prevented annual raises some years.

  2. Not a place to grow, but a good place to be for the benefits

    Pros

    Benefits, flexibility, non-corporate environment, stress-free

    Cons

poor management, very hard to move up or receive promotion, not challenging

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for training for managers. There are few leaders and even fewer people who know how to manage
