I worked at University of Maryland full-time (less than a year)

Pros

easy to get to work. nice facility ,has the ability to become a top hospital in the area .has some good employees but need to weed out the bad ones.

Cons

upper management did not seem to care about good customer service. It was hard to get my direct superviser to support the idea of team work..

I worked at University of Maryland full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Location location location - near Washington DC and Baltimore. Dynamic atmosphere due to research, student energy, a lively performing arts center, sports, etc. Decent training opportunities for professional staff on campus. Great benefits.

    Cons

Salaries for professional staff have not kept up with the increase in cost of living. Bureaucracy of a state institution seems to make it difficult to retain good staff, so institutional knowledge has been affected by turnover during the recession.
