I have been working at University of Maryland part-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Nice and knowledgeable people around, world-class engineering facility, great training during graduate programs.

Cons

Stipend is limited as graduate research assistant, sometimes not even secure since many groups' primary funding source is the government...

I have been working at University of Maryland full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

UMD College Park campus is a relaxed atmosphere nice grounds close to route 1 easy commute

    Cons

Hard to advance within the university especially if you've been here for a few years, most departments would rather start new employees at the low end of the pay scale.

I worked at University of Maryland part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, nice people, helped a lot to settle in. The University of Maryland was a nice place to work as an office assistant.

    Cons

low pay, insignificant work sometimes. I can't complain too much about a lowly job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there's definitely more people working than needed with many just doing the bare minimum.
