I have been working at University of Maryland School of Medicine full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Large hospital complex next door, opportunity to interact with clinicians if you're lucky, parts of Baltimore offer affordable urban living.

    Cons

Baltimore has some serious problems, as do many large cities, with crime, unemployment, budget shortfalls .. the list goes on. UMB has a lot of NIH grant money, but most is dedicated to clinical trials and research. Common use facilities such as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and the like, are spotty at best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in basic science infrastructure at UMB!
