I have been working at University of Melbourne

Pros

Highly ranked University, Nice coworkers, great location, department is decently equipped, also my office is next to the best coffee shop...

Cons

Management needs to improve the way international students are treated. Research positions should be offered because the Uni is interested in research rather than the fees...

A strange place by commercial measures... but then again, it's a university for crying out loud...

I have been working at University of Melbourne

    Pros

if you can survive the speed (or lack thereof) and want to retire safely, this is a place for you. great for people with no aspirations, professional or otherwise.

    Cons

low wage, aging staff, no real incentives to develop, political in an academic sort of way, slow moving, academic in nature, no respect for professional staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

hard to say really. It is all relative to the education environment. Something tells me that the "university of the future" isn't going to look like this.
