Pros

UM provides employees with excellent benefits, including tuition remission, which is an amazing benefit, considering the cost of tuition at this private university. Other benefits, such as medical/dental, vacation, sick time, etc., are comparable to those that most large corporations offer. There are many opportunities for advancement at the "U" and it's a great environment in which to work. The main, Coral Gables campus is beautiful and vibrant. Cultural events abound, and something interesting is always going on.

Cons

Parking...even employee permits are pricey and it's always a challenge to park. If you can work it out, take the Metrorail (public transportation). There's a station right at the main Coral Gables campus.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

President Shalala has really propelled this university forward. As with any company or organization, some departments are better than others.

I have been working at University of Miami full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition Remission is pretty much all I can come up with.

    Cons

Senior leaders don't care at all about their employees, inept management throughout numerous departments, no room for growth, horrible pay, very low employee morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up some entry level tests for every position. It's sad and extremely unfair when an employee knows more than her manager. Increase the pay...it's horrible! Oh, and sell UMH. That hospital is going to be your downfall.
