  2. Student Affairs spends too much time "thinking" and not enough time "acting".

    Pros

good benefits, nice campus, close to many amenities. good people. almost any restaurant delivers to campus. excellent raises if you stay and move up in the ranks. the bureaucracy is limited and actually helpful! you will get support from higher ups. the programs for work/life are amazing!

    Cons

Student Affairs spends more time thinking and posturing and talking about social justice than actually providing it or working towards it. When told of insidious problems with racism, classism and sexism - people turn away and find excuses for the behavior instead of actually addressing the issue or concern. Upper management in DSA seem to be focused more on the ranks, the appearance and "who's in charge" than actually getting anything done. everyone in the upper levels seems to be more focused on building their careers and their names than doing good.

    Advice to Management

think about what the goals actually are and take action to move towards them. change things when you need to. HOLD STUDENTS AND STAFF ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
