I have been working at University of Minnesota full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great campus/work environment; good people; predictable & steady work; decent benefits; flexible & good work-life balance values; actively promotes/rewards health & wellness

    Cons

bureaucratic, limited opportunity for high level (internal) training for growth & development, non-competitive pay, faculty-run administration keeps the U behind the times in business practices

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to operate more like a business - hire the right talent, compensate them (merit-based opportunities), run more efficiently, bring high-level mgmt jargon political posturing down to a practical and workable level

I have been working at University of Minnesota full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are solid and reasonably priced.
Great lively campus atmosphere, especially in the Spring.
The retirement package is second to none (they contributure 10.5%).

    Cons

Individuals works in silos = No team collaboration/atmosphere.
Lack of any formal (or even informal) training programs.
Little compensation for the amount of expected work and raises every 5 years, if that.
Heirarchy and beauracracy breeds a "Yes, sir...anytime sir" kind of environment (if you question authority your days are numbered).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see job descriptions be written consistently across campus.
Also, I think a training or mentoring program would be helpful.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
