I have been working at University of Minnesota part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy to work. Management is really nice. Flexible hours. As a student it gives me the required exposure and helped me gain office management skills.

    Cons

Tough to work with both work and school. However I don't see other problems working for the U of M. As I said having a nice supervisor who takes care of you help.

    Pros

Flexibility in research. Semi-autonomy in current position. Flexibility in schedule

    Cons

Pay is much lower than industry. It sometimes feels as though the most talented individuals move on and those who can't remain.

    Advice to Management

Honest direct communication with employees is better, even if more painful, than going through a third individual
