I have been working at University of Missouri full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff development funding, flexible schedule, benefits are good. Easy access to amenities like gym or lunch. Opportunities to meet researchers and professors from around the world. Great research community. Seminars on large range of topics. Community of learners.

    Cons

Your experience here all depends on what department you work for. My group is completely dysfunctional and unorganized, while others are on top of their tasks at all times and enjoy their work. It's very difficult to get a job in another department if you find yourself as one of the unfortunate people to work in bad group. Politics are widespread. It can often be only about who you know.
