I have been working at University of Nevada, Reno full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Despite recent budget cuts, the mood is positive and forward-looking.
Reno has a surprising number of really good restaurants, vibrant local music and art scene, great outdoor activities; community food co-op. Local schools getting lots of attention; town/gown relations on the upswing.

Cons

Two cycles of budget cuts mean shoestring operation across the campus.
Downtown area struggling, empty buildings and neglect (but midtown blossoming).

I worked at University of Nevada, Reno part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

UNR is a great place to work at. The campus is very pretty and it's a good environment to learn. Student employees are treated fairly and given ample time for course work.

    Cons

The pay range for student employees is fairly low. This isn't a surprise as most state jobs pay poorly.
