University of Nevada, Reno – “UNR Student Employment- Flexible Hours for Low Pay”

Pros

As a student worker at the university, the office I worked at was very flexible, essentially allowing me to determine my own hours. This was also largely because I worked on my own projects, self-paced, and could still promise a time of completion

Cons

The pay as a student worker, for my specialty, was minimal. Even after 4 years at the University I was making far less than I would have taking a job that would have been less flexible with my hours off campus.

Advice to Senior Management

Pay your specialized workers better! That and the University needs to better outline Student Employee guidelines to smaller departments, as there always seemed to be some sort of paperwork surrounding my employment to deal with.
