Pros

Smart colleagues, good management, people are friendly. For faculty and staff, UNM provides quite stable positions and lives are easy and relaxed.

Cons

Hard to get funding due to the name and rank of the university, very few attractive projects, difficult to get high rank publication for both financial and reputation issues.

I worked at University of New Mexico as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Working as a student research assistant really depends on the advisor. The department/school itself have little to do with it. As a international student, I like UNM global education office (GEO). It organizes wonderful events for international students

    Cons

It is located at a boring city. Not so much chances for international students locally. Intern/work openings are mostly for US citizens.
