Former Employee - Research Technician in Chapel Hill, NC
Former Employee - Research Technician in Chapel Hill, NC

I worked at University of North Carolina full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Lots of collaborative work, researchers are eager to work with each other to create better studies. Never found myself without access to needed equipment. There are lots of opportunities to move around research areas as well, lots of postings on campus. The ability to take classes for free is also a bonus.

Cons

A little tough getting into campus, obviously no parking really near the med school. The bus system is pretty good though.

I have been working at University of North Carolina full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The environment and appreciation of research

    Cons

Too much work to do to be able to enjoy what should be perks, such as taking classes; PARKING; no raises, poor pay; lack of supplies - I don't have the things I need to be able to do my job well; lack of office space

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the state makes it difficult to give pay raises, etc, try to foster employee satisfaction in other ways

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
