I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Supportive management, advancement opportunities, great hours, superb benefits and the work is not difficult. This company rewards hard work and recognizes talent.

Cons

The bulk of the job requires lots of tie on the phone. Expect to make a lot of phone calls and be patient with voice mails as you will leave a LOT of messages. Corporate work means you are not family and the company does not care about your personal life.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to do what you are doing. Spend a little more time accepting input from your team, they may have something important to say.

    Pros

You will get paid a lot to do a job you were lied to about.

The whole school is funded by the federal government's grant and loan money.

Current Contractor - Adjunct Faculty in Phoenix, AZ
Current Contractor - Adjunct Faculty in Phoenix, AZ

I have been working at University of Phoenix as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent classes, good training, supportive faculty forums, increasing pay scale. Excellent platform to teach with, good materials, more freedom within the classes, good peer review system.

    Cons

automatied scheduling--it's a bit of a problem without the human element there. No healthcare benefits for adjuncts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the human schedulers, support your senior faculty with more classes rather than fewer. Get a health benefits package for adjuncts.
