I have been working at University of Phoenix full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great coworkers. That's about it

    Cons

Major micromanaging, undercover sales job, selling a overpriced product, sterile work environment, awful hours, very low starting salary regardless of how many years of experience or level of education you have, coworkers take advantage of free education, but wonder how much getting a degree from Uopx is really worth, esp. In certain parts of the country. You feel like a peon dialing away for hours at a time, calling the same people over and over, sometimes twice a week. Truly a telemarketing job. I can imagine the only people who enjoy this job are getting paid well because they were part of the old merit based pay. At this point, there are no redeeming factors to work at Uopx. No fun work environment, pay is low, job is a telemarketing job, and hours stink!

    Advice to Management

You want to fool people into thinking they really are professionals, stop micromanaging! Pay for experience and education. Employees may be more productive if they enjoy what they do and feel valued.

I have been working at University of Phoenix part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You can gain experience to gain employment elsewhere.

    Cons

Very poor working environment and corporate culture; staff considers instructors to be unimportant, valueless infestations of their for-profit corporation. University demands too many meetings, academic affairs department do not return phone calls or emails. The staff is very petty, and only schedule their friends. Your credentials and experience mean little or nothing.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the instructors. The world market has valued your parent company (stock name APOL) as having a life expectancy of about 5 years.
