I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Individual training and development opportunities, advancement opportunities, excellent benefits package, caring atmosphere, huge network of peers and alumni

Cons

Company growth was not sustainable and there have been several layoffs and changes to structure lately, corporate flow of ideas down from people in position that do not understand student facing roles

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop some strong strategies for student facing roles and see these through. Don't blame financial struggles and growth issues on front facing roles.

I have been working at University of Phoenix as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great school to work with, and for in the Higher Education sector. Training is thorough, and helpful, we had a mentor throughout the first class. There are people immediately available to help if and when necessary. Lots of great resources for teaching too.

    Cons

Money is not great, but typically one doesn't teach as an adjunct for the pay! Would be nice to receive more offers to teach (on a contract basis), but I do get at least one offer per year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow those of us with time in as adjunct faculty to move into our area of expertise before hiring new faculty from outside (teaching general ed. classes right now).

I worked at University of Phoenix full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is fair and for the most part everyone gets along really well and it is a fun and inspiring environment to work in. Being around student is always fun, but Phoenix does offer a lot of staff events and other things to keep the ir employees motivated.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room for growth. The other issue is that a lot of their campuses are closing so you do not really have job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunities to grow within the company.
