Pros

Prestige, work environment, people are very friendly.
As the number one institution of the country, you are sure to get top notch researchers to work with. In addition, there are many fields available. As a grad student with assistanship, you get free tuition.

Cons

salaries could be higher. Pays less than a US University.
sometimes, lack of professionalism from other employees
parking is insufficient and not comfortable.
There often are strikes and you can't get to your research lab or the library. You never know what mentor you will be assigned, so, sometimes, if unlucky, you can get paired up with an unpleasant person or unprofessional professor.
as a grad assistant, you do not qualify for benefits package, and the low compensation is not enough to afford medical insurance, even university services. Overall, you need something to complement your graduate assistanship to make ends meet.

Advice to Management

To monitor the mentors more efficiently, and to make sure they do not give too much, or too little work to each student, to make things equal and doable.
