I worked at University of South Alabama part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

I love my colleagues and the support I get from my boss. I love the classes that I teach. I feel supported by admin.

Cons

There are very limited opportunities to be hired full time with benefits. Although the pay is comparable to other colleges, it's still low. That's not a USA problem. The problem is that adjuncts aren't paid well and don't receive benefits. Woe is the life of the adjunct professor.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire adjuncts for full time positions.

I have been working at University of South Alabama full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Generous health insurance and retirement plans. Access to USA doctors. Tuition reimbursement after 6 months of employment.

    Cons

Low pay. Long hours. Employees who have been with the bookstore for years are allowed to do nothing. Management puts these employees' work responsibilities onto other employees. There is little to no support from upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support the employees who are willing to actually work for a living. Stop promoting employees that are known to be problem employees to "get them off the front line and away from customers." In short, do your jobs as managers.
