I worked at University of South Alabama part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good flexibility and work-life balance. Very diverse group of co-workers. Progressively growing campus.

Cons

Compensation for students typically only ranges from minimum wage ($7.50) to $8.00 an hour. Opportunities for advancement were political and good workers typically go unnoticed. Weak communication exists between workers.

Advice to Management

Get to know your employees, even the student workers. Listen to them and have a genuine interest in what they have to say. Acknowledge and respect workers, even if they are "under you."

I have been working at University of South Alabama part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid for tuition for all the coursework needed for graduate school and provided a competitive stipend to live off campus.

    Cons

There are a lot of hoops to jump through in order to get things accomplished (i.e. purchase of supplies, hiring undergrads for help in the lab).

I have been working at University of South Alabama part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love being able to meet new people and they work around my schedule.

    Cons

My employees can be very rude and inconsiderate although at times they can also be very nice. It all depends on the mood they are in.
