Current Employee - Lab Arts Technician in Los Angeles, CA

Pros

stability with benefits. nice building, free air conditioning. I can't think of many Pros. But you don't have to worry that your paycheck will bounce. I had that fear before. There are ample paid holidays. They pay for a complete week off at the end of the year.

Cons

low pay makes it hard to live in area, little room for advancement, forced to pay $100/month for parking, little or no recognition for hard work, politics on steroids, management incompetent. The difference between exempt and non-exempt employees is reminiscent of medieval Royalty and serfs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

take advice, ask for advice. appreciate your employees. Buy them a burger once a semester for god's sake, anything. Give parking relief to low paid employees.

Current Employee - Senior Research Associate in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

Join the Trojan family - this employer is one of the largest in Los Angeles. Top notch education, high quality research, money being invested in infrastructure and in hospitals. Benefits are great.

    Cons

Salaries can be on the low side. It is an academic institution after all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase employee retention by rewards based on merit. current merit increase system is, in theory, a good idea, but is not implemented well.
