I have been working at University of Southern California full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits, clean campus, lots of research resources available for people doing research. Lots of collaboration between groups and departments on research projects.

    Cons

The bureaucracy is pretty inefficient, and I don't feel that university resources are allocated as well as they should be (lots of money for football buildings, not much money for renovation or upkeep of science buildings, waste disposal department, etc.). Some staff people are amazing and on top of their game, while others have no clue and make more work for everyone else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask the different departments what their most pressing needs are, and make a point to try to help them all out, rather than focusing on a handful of priorities.

I have been working at University of Southern California full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pretty campus. Great staff. Room for growth. Pays for your education.

    Cons

The new director of financial aid sexually harasses people and is extremely arrogant, condescending, sarcastic and ill advised micromanaging maniac. Extremely high turn over. Low morale. Management does not place any value on talent retention. The micromanaging drives great talented and educated people away. New hires catch wind of it quickly and immediately start looking for new jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn the job before you ride someone's back for doing theirs way better than you ever will.
