I have been working at University of Southern California

Pros

Excellent support for young professors in a leading academic institution. Pressure is high to perform, however, being part of such a successful institution is worth it.

Cons

Health sciences campus does not feel like a campus, more like an industrial park in a not-so-great par of town.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the health science campus feel more like a part of USC. Make expectations of faculty clear and attainable. Keep up the great work.

    Pros

Great place to work at, very diverse bunch of people. Collaboration is strongly encouraged amongst staff and there are opportunities to meet some great people.

    Cons

It's up to you to make the most of your experiece. Sometimes staff are uncooperative but most of the times they are willing to help out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take heed of feedback from students to identify teachers who don't really make an impact on students during the semester.

I worked at University of Southern California

    Pros

    Very good benefits
    Forgiving schedule
    Interesting opportunities
    Free(ish) education

    Cons

    Low Pay
Co-workers tend to have extremely low expectations and motivations
Advanced degree carries far more weight than experience and competency
    Unduly politically charged

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is too much information silo-ing. Each department is run like a small fiefdom. A lot of good talent is going to waste.
Overall need for more leaders with vision, and fewer with platitudes.
