I have been working at University of Sydney

Pros

It has a good weather. It is not too competitive. There is flexibility with your time job. Good balance with your life. There are good salaries.

Cons

No too many funds for science. There is no good comunication with your bosses. The city is very expensive and the houses are completely unafordable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should be a better career promotion at postdoctoral level. Should be a better free career training. Sould be a better acknowledge for the people working here, for example in the web page groups there are only information about bosses.

    Cons

Not as great pay as you could get in industry jobs.

    Depends on the faculty

I have been working at University of Sydney

    Pros

Teaching at the university pays well but it really depends on the faculty. e.g. in Business & Economics, rallying for better conditions and pay (e.g. getting paid for time spent on training) is commonplace, but almost unheard of in Science.

    Cons

Depending on the discipline you might often meet very arrogant academics who think that their qualifications give them the right to treat you in a condescending manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest more involvement with unions, but as with companies, that is not likely to happen.
