I worked at University of Tennessee full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is very competitive, seeing as Knoxville has a very low cost of living. UT has excellent retirement to make up for lower than national average compensation. Collegial atmosphere located near Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Access to advanced techniques and instrumentation is easily afforded.

    Cons

Compensation is lower than national average for professor (biochemistry) salaries. On gamedays, it is impossible to park anywhere on campus.
