I have been working at University of Tennessee full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great support with Student Life Division, excellent professionals to work with, work with top employer brands, great student base and excellent business and engineering colleges. Knoxville is a great blend of lifestyles and solid middle class. Could be a more diverse environment but improvements are being made. Downtown revitilization is helping make Knoxville a great place for recent grads to start their careers.

    Cons

State budgets, politics and some leadership turnover. Lofty goals and objectives will lead to improvements although it remains unlcear if final goals will be reached. More and more emphasis on private financial support makes success seem overly dependent on the state of the economy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to strive for the ability for UT to make its own decisions independent from the UT System.
