Current Employee - Administrative Assistant I in Richardson, TX

I have been working at University of Texas System full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you know the right people you can advance, or move to a new position on campus.

    Cons

You really need to know the right people on campus to go anywhere.
Most of upper management bases their decisions on personal feelings and not necessarily the most qualified person.
No Maternity leave, just short term disability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for people who are strong workers, don't base all decisions on who you personally like. Good workers make the office flow, bad ones that you like make the office stop. Also, offer some maternity leave instead of just short term disability.
